Roland Martin Rods Continue To Pay Off

By Chris Yogerst

A couple months ago I landed in seventh place at a tough BFL event out of Lake Winneconne, Wisconsin.  The Key to my success was having the patience to wait for the sluggish fish to bite before moving my bait.  This combined with the seven foot medium heavy action Roland Martin Tournament Grade Rod was pivotal in my success.    The fish I was on were tucked in thick patches of scattered grass in shallow water.  In order to get them out efficiently I needed a sensitive yet powerful rod to do the trick.  These rods, under $100, helped me cash an $800 check!

More recently, I competed in a local open on a Wisconsin River impoundment and finished in the top ten and won big bass honors for the second year in a row!  Again, my rods played a key role.  The weather was unseasonably cold for August; both mornings were close to 40 degrees!  I decided to fish for Smallmouth as if it were May up here.  I was throwing a jerkbait on a six foot six inch Tournament Grade I rod.  It says the rod is designed for a crankbait or spinnerbait.  I assure you, this is a stellar jerkbait rod!  It allows the fish to pull and pull, while keeping the right amount of tension without pulling the hooks out.  This rod is better for this application than any high dollar rod I’ve thrown.

For the price of good rods these days, it is impossible to beat the price and quality of Roland Martin Tournament Grade Lines. These rods are built by Proline Fishing Incorporated, check them out here.
