Lake Huites, Super Bass Fishing in Mexico
Contact Larry Jones for information and availability. Larry will send additional literature on request. Just tell Larry you found this on the Bass N Edge web site. To all a good bite ...... Walt Reynolds, Touring Pro
October 27th, 1999 Every few years a new lake becomes available that makes bass fishermen feel like they are in heaven. This time the new lake is Lake Huites in the country of Mexico. Located about 180 miles from Los Mochas in the Sierra Madras mountains, it is a rather remote area with little outside traffic other than bass fishermen going to the lake.
The lake view from the lodge. Campo Buena Vista ( meaning "beautiful view" ) is a great place to base your bass fishing trip out of. It is brand new, clean, and the service is outstanding. They have nice boats with very capable local guides to take you to the best areas. The food is very good and is prepared fresh daily by the camp chef. Steaks, seafood, and native cuisine are served under the open air Papal overlooking the lake. The lodge houses 26 guests, and has been custom designed with your comfort in mind. The rooms are extremely clean, air-conditioned, with ceiling fans and have maid service twice daily. It is without a doubt the finest facility of its kind. On a recent filming trip in October 1999, Walt Reynolds and Larry Jones hosted a group of amateur fishermen at Campo Buena Vista with outstanding results. There were many fish in the 8 to 11 pound class caught. So many in fact that we heard ' another small one" a lot of times when a 6 pounder was caught. Over 1,000 bass, over 2 1/2 pounds, were caught and released in just four days by the fishermen. Most of the fish were caught on a Ninja Spinner Bait by Gambler Lures and the hot new Gambler Baby Bacon Rind fished Texas rigged. There was also lots of topwater action in the early and late hours of each day. FISHING Huites is an incredible new lake, average catches are 100-150 fish per boat per day (depending on ability), and with the average size being 3-4 lbs. and many 8-10 pounders as well. The Lake Record is 16 lbs.! Those of you that remember the opening of Guerrero, Baccarac and Comedero will appreciate the opportunity to fish this great new lake. Fishing is strictly catch and release.
