Production on Johnson-Evinrude to begin in
fall of 2001.
Bombardier Recreational Products today announced it will begin manufacturing
Evinrude, Johnson and FICHT engines this fall, operating out of the plant the
company recently bought in Sturtevant, Wisconsin.
The company bought the engine lines from Outboard Marine Corp. (OMC) early this
year when OMC went bankrupt. The new engine plant will be about 35 miles north
of Waukegan, Illinois, where OMC headquarters was located and where those three
engine lines were built.
The company will also reopen plants in other areas that it got when it bought
the OMC engine business assets.
