Bass fishing pioneer Tom Mann passes away.

Tom Mann ,72 of Eufaula, Alabama, on February 12th, 2005 passed away from complications after having heart surgery on this past Tuesday. Tom was one of the first stars of bass fishing tournaments and lure designers.  His famous Mann's Jelly Worm made history in the bass fishing world's early days. He had fished BASS for 17 years and made the Classic 7 times.

Tom will be missed by all who knew him and watched his TV shows that aired in the mid-west and southern US. He founded and operated Allied Sports Co., which manufactured Humminbird electronics. The company was later renamed Techsonic and is now part of Johnson Fishing. He also founded Southern Plastics in 1977.

Funeral services are said to be Tues., Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Eufaula. Visitation is earlier that afternoon between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. A memorial service may also take place later in the week. 

 Mann was not related to Tom Mann, Jr. who won  the FLW event at Lake Toho on the same day.
