B.A.S.S. Announces First Prize Winner in the 2000 B.A.S.S., Inc. Outdoor
Adventure Sweepstakes XXVI


MONTGOMERY, Ala. ­ (March 8, 2001) ­ B.A.S.S., Inc. announced the first
place winner today in its 2000 Outdoor Adventure Sweepstakes XXVI.

Randall Howell, 26, of Northport, Ala., claimed a $25,000 Ranger Sport R81
powered by a Mercury 150-hp OptiMax Motor. The boat is also fully rigged
with a Humminbird Wide Paramount Fishfinder, an ACDelco cranking battery and
two continuous use  batteries as well as a matching Ranger Trail trailer.

"When I received the certified letter I couldnıt believe it," Howell said.
"It is still hard to believe, it is the first time that I have ever won
anything like this."

Howell, who goes fishing three or four times a week, not counting the
weekends, said he entered the contest by mailing in an entry. The heavy
equipment operator for the Tuscaloosa Water Works never thought he would win
a prize.

"I received several entry forms in the mail, but just mailed in the one out
of all of them. Itıs really hard to believe that I won."

Howell who says he fishes in several local tournaments had been fishing out
of a 1989 model boat.

The best is still yet to come from the 2000 B.A.S.S., Inc., Outdoor
Adventure Sweepstakes, the grand prize winner will be announced next week.
That winner will receive $175,000 in cash and prizes, including a Ranger
520DVX Comanche powered by a 225-hp Mercury OptiMax engine, a new Chevy
Extended Cab S-10 Pickup 4x4, a Kawasaki Mule 2510 Diesel 4x4 and $100,000
cash.
