ESPN Outdoors News for the Week of February 19
Florida's St. John's River Featured on ESPN2
This Saturday's episode of the CITGO BASSMASTERS on ESPN2 will focus on the
much-anticipated Florida CITGO BASSMASTER Eastern Open presented by Yamaha, held
on St. John's River in Palatka, Florida. As this is the first Eastern Open event
following the
cancellation of the New York CITGO BASSMASTER Eastern Open in September, the
anglers are geared up and ready for some action.
Hometown hero, Terry Scroggins, makes good as he sweeps the competition with an
eight-pound lead.
In addition to telling the story of the Florida event and showcasing one of the
South's prime fishing areas, host Tommy Sanders and analyst Jerry McKinnis will
also offer viewers a unique look at the Carolina Rig via the Fish-Eye View
technology that
allows viewers to see underwater video of selected techniques.
Also of interest to viewers will be the MapTech maps of the Saint John's River
which utilize satellite information to lay out the underwater geographic
contours of the fishery. A GPS tracking of an angler's day is then laid over the
map allowing viewers to
follow his day on the water. By showing underwater elements and locations,
the viewer gets a better understanding of the fishing conditions than ever
before.
The CITGO BASSMASTERS will be aired Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. ET, and will
be re-aired the following Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET.
