ESPN Great Outdoor Games Presented By Jeep Launches Official Web Site Lake Placid, NY- ESPN announced today the successful launch of its new Great Outdoor Games web site, www.greatoutdoorgames.com. The official outdoor multi-sport event site was formally launched Monday morning. The ESPN Great Outdoor Games take place in Lake Placid, N.Y. July 12 15, 2001 and feature competitions in fishing, timber events, target sports and sporting dogs. "With the launch of greatoutdoorgames.com we have successfully taken the premier outdoor event inside to the Internet," said Jim Downs, Director of the Great Outdoor Games. "With this site, outdoor enthusiasts all over the world will be able to keep up year round on information about our event." The site includes complete lists of competitors, event results, on-air commentators, event descriptions, venue information and event and broadcast schedules. Greatoutdoorgames.com also includes streaming video clips of past competitions, a photo gallery of athletes in competition, features and columns on outdoor sports and a section specifically dedicated to headline news in the outdoor industry. The inaugural Great Outdoor Games were held July 20-23, 2000 and drew more than 18,000 spectators and over 200 competitors from around the world. This year athletes will be competing for medals and prize money in four sport categories and 21 different events.
