Operation Bass Partners with ALPO® Dog Food as National Sponsor for 2001 Series

Gilbertsville, Ky., (Jan. 22, 2001) - Operation Bass, the nation's
largest bass fishing tournament organization, has tied the knot with
ALPO® dog food, a member of the Friskies PetCare Inc. family of quality
pet food products, in a sponsorship agreement.

The multi-level partnership in support of the 2001 Wal-Mart FLW Tour,
EverStart Series and Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League brings together
two great traditions of Americana - fishing and the ALPO brand name.
Whether a tournament participant or spectator, consumers across
the country are expected to reel in the benefits.

On waters across the nation, a five-person fishing team sponsored by
ALPO will compete in the celebrated fishing tournaments from
Ranger Comanche customized boats pulled by customized Chevy Silverados.
With over 55 million anglers in the United States - which is
more than the sports of golf and tennis combined - enthusiasm for the
sport continues to soar and create opportunity for corporate
sponsors.

in-store at Wal-Mart throughout the season. In addition, cat owners can

ALPO will join the FLW Tour team of sponsors to host the Family Fun
Zone, an interactive mini-carnival on the grounds of select Wal-Mart
Supercenters at each lead tour event. Together with a local animal
shelter, ALPO's Great Dog Connection will spotlight opportunities for
homeless pets to find loving homes. Informative talks on proper canine
care and nutrition, complimentary dog food samples and
educational brochures will provide pet owners, new and experienced, with
the tools to ensure their dogs better care, for life. Local residents
and tournament participants are encouraged to come see these friendly
four-legged companions, learn about responsible pet care and
maybe "make a connection." Adding to the excitement, each adopting
family will take home a 3-month supply ($50 value) of ALPO dog
food and treats and the local shelter will receive a donation. Full

The Wal-Mart FLW Tour, EverStart Series and Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League
could collectively award more than $12 million in prize
money during the 2001 season. The Wal-Mart FLW Tour alone, currently in
its sixth season, will award participating anglers $4.4 million in
cash through seven events, making it the most lucrative series in
fishing history.
