Russ Bringger passes

The fishing industry lost one of good guys on Sunday February 15th.  Russ Bringger, co-owner of Gambler-Bang, passed away Sunday after a long battle with cancer. Russ was one of the best known fisherman as well as one of the best fishermen to come from the state of Florida. He spent most of his time fishing Lake Okeechobee where he had won close to a hundred tournaments, including a Bassmaster Invitational in 1986. He was one of the innovators of flipping the heavy mats and cover on the lake and excelled at it.

Russ will be missed by everyone that knew him. He was a friend to everyone he met and loved the sport of bass fishing dearly. Russ was a huge supporter of local bass clubs and area fishermen. Gambler-Bang is one of the largest tackle manufactures in the Southeast.

Bringger 53, who died at home surrounded by friends and family, is survived by his wife Joanie, a son, Ryan, and a daughter, Jennifer Vieco, who two months ago gave birth to the Bringgers' first grandchild, Bradley

There will be no funeral or memorial service. Bringger will be cremated and his ashes scattered at Lake Okeechobee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bringger's name to the V Foundation for Cancer Research. A memorial bass tournament will be held at a date to be determined.
