Bass Pro Shops recently signed a trademark license agreement with Browning for the exclusive marketing rights to Browning fishing products in the United States and Canada.  Bass Pro Shops, including their stores, catalog and internet site, along with American Rod & Gun (Bass Pro Shops wholesale division) and their nationwide dealer network, will be the only retailers in America to carry the Browning fishing line. The new Browning rods, reels and combos will be featured in the Bass Pro Shops 2004 Master Catalog.

“Bass Pro Shops came to us with a vision that focuses on the product quality expected of our brand,” stated Charles Guevremont, president of Browning.  “The design slate was wiped clean, and Bass Pro Shops is developing a Browning line that meets our goal to provide select tackle to selective fishermen,” Guevremont explained.

Browning, long known for high-performance sporting arms, actually began in 1878 when John M. Browning began work on his first single shot rifle that he patented in 1879. A prolific and advanced series of firearms designs followed, earning the inventor 127 more patents for firearms he sold to the famous gunmakers of the day as well as for designs he brought to market under the Browning brand.
