Review of the Terminal Tackle Gloves

I wanted to try Columbia’s Terminal Tackle gloves because I had heard good things about them from a couple of friends. I was looking for a good quality pair of gloves that would provide adequate protection from the sun, good grip support while fishing, but without being large and bulky. The Terminal Tackle gloves seemed to fit the bill.

After getting them and trying them on, I was impressed with their light weight, soft fabric, and great color. I was pretty confident they would work well for fishing, but you never know until you can really try them out.

As I’ve had the chance to use them and break them in, they’ve become one of my favorite pairs of gloves for fishing.

After multiple times out on the water while using them, I can say that they provide a good level of sun protection as well as a good grip. Also, I was able to wear them all day without any issues or my hands feeling claustrophobic.

So far, I have used them while fishing, kayaking, and even playing pickleball. They provide a nice covering without getting in the way. They provide a small amount of warmth when it’s cool outside, though they are not designed to keep your hands warm by any means.

They’ve saved my hands a few times now from some stray hooks that would have otherwise sunk into my hand. Instead, the rubber grips took the hit, and my hand was fine.

Likes

  • I appreciate the weight and build of these gloves. You can wear them in both hot and cool whether, though you’ll probably want something warmer if it’s under 50 degrees out.
  • They seem to be made of a pretty good quality material and have held up well to kayak fishing.
  • I’ve had issues in the past with having skin irritation from other fishing gloves, but haven’t experiences that with the Terminal Tackle gloves.
  • They fit well and are comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

Dislikes

I don’t have any real complaints about these gloves themselves. I think maybe Columbia has a quality control issue when it comes to the sizing. I have pretty large hands, so I thought I would need the L/XL size. That wasn’t the case, and the gloves were actually too big. I had to exchange them for the S/M size, which fit much better.

Overall

Made from light weight and soft fabric, these gloves are comfortable to wear all day long. They also provide a good grip when fishing and have open finger holes which make it easier to tie knots and handle your fishing gear.

If you are looking for gloves that will protect your hands from both the sun and provide extra grip, the Columbia’s Terminal Tackle fishing gloves may just be the perfect fit for you.
