A common mistake people make when choosing sunglasses for fishing is assuming any pair will do.
The fact is, ordinary sunglasses can actually hinder your performance and give you a false sense of security when it comes to protecting your eyes.
I made this mistake when I first started fishing, and it wasn’t until a friend pointed out the importance of using polarized sunglasses that I realized the mistake.
I’ve been using the Oakley Flak 2.0 XL Sunglasses for fishing for a few years now, and I can’t imagine going back to anything else.
With their unconventional look, I can’t imagine they’d win any fashion shows, however, they work phenomenally well.
The lens quality is fantastic, and they provide excellent protection and improved visual clarity.
They fit snugly and comfortably on my face, even after hours of wearing them, and I’ve never had any issues with them becoming uncomfortable or slipping off my face.
If you’re in the market for a new pair of polarized fishing sunglasses, this would be a pair I would recommend checking out.
XYZ Optics (XYZ Optics) and High Definition Optics (HDO) provide superior visual clarity and visual fidelity with Oakley Flak Sunglasses. A wide variety of options are available for the lenses, including mirroring and polarization, so you can get the best possible view, no matter what you’re dealing with.
The frame quality is excellent as well. The frames are made out of Oakley’s proprietary material called O-Matter. O-Matter is a nylon blend that is highly impact resistant and very durable. It is lightweight, so it won’t weigh you down when you’re wearing them.
The lenses are interchangeable which allows you to switch them out to handle different lighting conditions. While this is a cool feature, it’s not one that we’ve thoroughly tested. So we can’t speak to how easy the process is and if there are any downsides of continually swapping out the lenses.
The design style of the Oakley Flak Sunglasses is semi-rimless with a wrap around style. This gives you a wide field of view and provides protection for your peripheral vision.
Coverage is excellent with the Oakley Flak Sunglasses. The lenses are tall and curved to provide extra coverage. The semi-rimless design means there is no frame to obstruct your field of view.
As for comfort, the Oakley Flak Sunglasses feature a flexible frame that is designed to only come into contact with specific points on your head. The arms protrude slightly away from the face so that they don’t come into contact with your cheekbone. This reduces pressure from areas of your head that would be uncomfortable otherwise.
The nose pads and ear socks are made from a grippy material that does a great job at keeping the Flaks on your face. We haven’t had any issues or concerns of them falling off, even when bending over and grabbing or netting a fish.
They are available in multiple different frame and lens color combinations and include a microfiber storage bag and case.
For us, the Oakley Flak 2.0 XL have proven to be a very durable pair of sunglasses. The O-Matter frame is designed to be rugged and to take a beating and the Plutonite lenses have above average scratch resistance.
With non-abusive care, they should last for a number of years without any major issues.
All in all, the Oakley Flak Sunglasses are an excellent choice for fishing sunglasses. They are well made, provide solid eye protection, and deliver enhanced visual clarity and fidelity.
If you’ve never worn polarized sunglasses before while fishing, it’s definitely worth investing in a high-quality pair. Not only will you be saving your eyes from long term health risks, there’s also the really cool fact that you can see under the water when you’re wearing them.
If you’re okay with the design style of the Oakley Flak’s, we’d suggest giving them a try.
When it comes to sunglasses, protection is key. Whether you are spending time outdoors fishing or driving in your car to go fishing 😊, sunglasses help protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
The Oakley Flak 2.0 XL sunglasses are designed to provide this enhanced protection. The Plutonite lenses are polarized to reduce glare and provide 100% UVB protection.
With its nylon-blend frame, the O-Matter frame offers high impact resistance, perfect for protecting your eyes from wayward fishing rods.
With its semi-rimless design, you will be able to easily swap lenses and enjoy an unobstructed view when looking downward.
XYZ Optics is a proprietary lens technology from Oakley that provides superior clarity and vibrancy of colors. The lenses are treated with a special coating that filters out light in the wavelength range that is most harmful to the eyes. This results in less eye fatigue and more comfortable vision.
The XYZ Optics treatment selectively filters out light in the blue wavelength, which is known to be harmful to the eyes when overexposed. The lenses have a higher contrast ratio, which makes colors appear more vibrant and clear.
The benefits of XYZ Optics include better clarity, vibrancy of colors, and less eye fatigue. This makes them ideal for people who spend long hours outdoors or who need to see clearly in low-light conditions.
High Definition Optics (HDO) is a technology that allows for better vision by providing sharper and clearer images. This is done by using advanced lens materials and coatings, as well as specialized manufacturing techniques.
HDO works by bending light in such a way that it produces a sharper image on the retina. The benefits of HDO include better vision, reduced eye fatigue, and improved safety. HDO provides superior protection from UV rays and other harmful environmental factors.
A good fit is important for fishing sunglasses. You don’t want them falling off into the water or to require constant readjustments which can distract you from feeling a strike on the line.
The advantage of adjustable nose pads is that you can customize the fit to your own unique face shape. This ensures that the sunglasses will stay in place and be comfortable to wear.
Prizm is Oakley’s proprietary lens technology that is designed to manipulate the light spectrum and boost contrast to make everything in your environment pop with color. Everything is easier to see, details are easier to pick up on, and colors are more vibrant.
Oakley’s engineers have developed a specific dye that is used in the manufacturing of Prism lenses. This dye changes the light spectrum and blocks certain colors of light at certain nanometers on the light spectrum. This allows for increased contrast or decreased glare, depending on the environment or activity.
The benefits of Prizm technology include better clarity and more vibrant colors.
Unobtainium is a synthetic rubber that is used in the nose pads and ear socks of Oakley Flak sunglasses. This material was designed by Oakley to provide a secure and comfortable fit for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. Unobtainium becomes grippier when it comes into contact with sweat, so it helps keep the sunglasses in place even when you are sweating.
Oakley’s Unobtainium nose pads and ear socks work very well to keep the sunglasses in place. The material is soft and comfortable, yet provides a secure grip that prevents the sunglasses from slipping. Even when sweating, the Unobtainium material helps keep the sunglasses in place.
A lightweight and durable frame is important for a number of reasons.
First, it ensures that your sunglasses will be comfortable to wear during a long day on the water.
Second, it ensures that your sunglasses will be able to withstand the rigors of daily use.
Third, it ensures that your sunglasses will look good and last long.
If you’re looking for a high-quality pair of polarized fishing sunglasses, the Oakley Flak 2.0 XL Sunglasses are an excellent choice. With their superior lens quality, enhanced sun protection, and comfortable fit, they will help you see better and perform at your best.
